Top Vietnamese legislator begins official visit to RoK

Those welcoming the Vietnamese delegation at the airport included Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung, the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and Vice President of the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Suh Jung-sook.

The top Vietnamese legislator’s official visit to the RoK is of great political importance as he had been elected Chairman of the Vietnamese NA earlier this year. This is the first visit to the RoK by a senior leader of Vietnam after two years since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

 The trip is expected to further deepen and add fresh impetus for the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership in the build up to the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2022.

It will contribute to opening a new stage of development for the cooperative relationship between the two countries in the time ahead.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, Vietnam-RoK relations have been growing steadily and recorded significant achievements across a variety of fields such as politics-diplomacy, security-defence, economy and culture, and in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. The RoK has become one of the most important partners of Vietnam.

During the visit, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his delegation will hold talks with Speaker of the NA Park Byeong-seug and meet with Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and other Korean leaders.

The Vietnamese NA leader will receive leaders of a number of Korean friendship organizations and economic groups, meet with the Vietnamese community working and studying in the Northeastern Asian nation, and listen to the RoK's experience in outlining an economic recovery strategy in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period.

He will also witness the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between both nations’ ministries, localities and enterprises.
