Top leader, capital’s youth pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh on National Day

Those accompanying the top leader were Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, alongside officials from the Party Central Committee’s Office, the General Secretary’s Office, and the Presidential Office.

The ceremony celebrated the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945) and National Day (September 2), as well as the 57th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s passing.

On the same morning, thousands of citizens gathered early at Ba Dinh Square to pay homage at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visit the President Ho Chi Minh Historical Site at the Presidential Palace.

Simultaneously, 200 outstanding youth union members from the capital attended a flag-raising ceremony at Ba Dinh Square before paying tribute at the mausoleum. At 7:00 a.m., youth union units directly under the Hanoi Youth Union concurrently held flag-raising ceremonies as part of the "I Love My Fatherland" campaign organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Earlier, on August 28, a delegation of senior Party and State leaders, including General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, laid wreaths at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street.

Eighty-one years ago, on September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on behalf of the Provisional Government, proclaiming to the nation and the world the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Twenty-four years after declaring independence, on September 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh passed away in Hanoi at the age of 79. His memorial service was solemnly held on September 9 at Ba Dinh Square amid profound grief from people across the country and international friends.
