President Phuc leaves Hanoi for official visit to Laos
VOV.VN - State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife together with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on August 9 left Hanoi for an official friendship visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic from August 9-10.
The visit is being made following the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
This is the first overseas trip of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in his new position, demonstrating Vietnam’s high respect and special attention to maintaining and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
The visit comes after LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith paid an official friendship visit to Vietnam in late June 2021.
State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife are being accompanied by Politburo members, including Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, Minister of Public Security To Lam, Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang, Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh among others.
During the visit, both nations' leaders will discuss a range of measures aimed at continuing to promote political and diplomatic relations, especially in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This will serve as an important foundation for stepping up cooperation across multiple fields such as trade and investment, defence security, culture, education-training, health care, and international, regional and sub-regional cooperation.
The visit is believed to make an important contribution to maintaining the fine traditions and special relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.
