President Luong Cuong concludes successful visit to APEC Economic Leaders’ Week
VOV.VN - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his high-level delegation departed Busan on the evening of November 1 (local time), wrapping up their visit to attend the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and bilateral meetings in the Republic of Korea (RoK) at the invitation of President Lee Jae-myung from October 29 to November 1.
The RoK side saw off the delegation at the airport, including Choi Hyung-chan, Director of the Korean Diplomatic Academy, and city leaders of Busan. On the Vietnamese side were Ambassador Vu Ho, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan, along with staff from the Embassy and Consulate General of Vietnam in the RoK.
During APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, President Luong Cuong met with leaders from various APEC economies, including US President Donald Trump, Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, RoK President Lee Jae-myung, and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae. He also met leaders of top global corporations.
The Vietnamese State leader engaged in in key sessions of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit and the APEC 2025 CEO Summit, presenting strategic and breakthrough proposals to further strengthen APEC’s role and position in regional and global economic cooperation and integration, while addressing challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region.
President Luong Cuong also delivered a strong message on Vietnam’s potential, advantages, strategic decisions, and breakthrough initiatives, enabling international partners to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Vietnam’s development directions and to continue accompanying, supporting, and standing alongside Vietnam in the new era, particularly in mobilizing financial and technological resources to serve the goals of growth model transformation, innovation promotion, green transition, and digital transformation.
The President’s attendance at the meetings and his engagements with leaders of economies and businesses marked a key step in implementing the foreign policy direction and major policies of the Party and State, continuing the shift in mindset and approach to international integration, from a “receiving” to a “contributing” perspective, from integration to deep and comprehensive integration, from the position of a lagging economy to that of a rising economy pioneering in many new fields; at the same time, these activities helped deepen bilateral relations with partners and mobilize resources to serve the country’s socio-economic development goals.
Within the framework of bilateral activities, President Luong Cuong held an important working session with RoK President Lee Jae Myung, during which both sides agreed to coordinate effectively in carrying out existing cooperation mechanisms and to actively accelerate the implementation of cooperation documents signed by both sides. They also committed to ramping up mutually beneficial economic cooperation in line with the development goals of both sides, creating a significant and substantive step forward in their partnership.
The President also held meetings with Busan city leaders; met with officials and staff of Vietnamese representative offices, as well as outstanding Vietnamese community representatives in the RoK; and attended “Vietnam Day,” organized jointly by Gyeongsangbuk Province, the New Rural Development Foundation of the RoK, and the Embassy of Vietnam in the RoK.
The Vietnamese State leader’s visit was successfully concluded on both multilateral and bilateral fronts, leaving a strong impression on Vietnam’s role, standing, and substantive contributions to dealing with regional economic, trade, and development cooperation issues, as well as in strengthening Vietnam’s relations with RoK and APEC economies.
