Politburo announces appointment of Public Security Party Committee

VOV.VN - The Central Public Security Party Committee held a ceremony on June 4 in Hanoi for the purpose of announcing the 13th-tenure Politburo’s decision regarding the appointment of the committee for the 2020 to 2025 term.

According to the Politburo’s decision issued on June 1, the Central Public Security Party Committee will be made up of 27 members, with a 10-member standing board including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam is set to serve as Secretary of the committee.

As part of his address, General Secretary Trong pointed to the intertwined favourable conditions and major challenges faced by both the region and the wider world during the 2020 to 2025 tenure.

He therefore stressed that safeguarding political security, whilst maintaining social order and safety, is the primary task of the public security force.

Furthermore, Minister Lam expressed his hope that the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security will continue to receive instructions from the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, as well as effective co-ordination from ministries, central agencies, and localities.

After the announcement ceremony, the Central Public Security Party Committee held its first meeting in order to discuss and adopt an action plan to carry out the resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and the seventh congress of the Central Public Security Party Organisation for the 2020 to 2025 period.

The committee also conducted a review of the public security force’s performance over the first six months of the year, alongside setting up orientations for the last half of the year and looking into some other important issues.
