PM Dung meets with Indian leaders

Vietnam continuously treasures its traditional friendship and strategic partnership with India, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Indian leaders during his visit to the country from October 27-28.

In New Delhi, the Vietnamese Government leader met with President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President and Chairman of the Indian Parliament’s Rayja Sabha (Upper House) Hamid Ansari, Speaker of the Lok Sabha (Lower House) Sumitra Mahajan, and Minister of Exteral Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

During the meetings, he expressed his delight at the positive development of bilateral ties, especially in politics, security-defence, economy, science-technology, culture and education. 

He affirmed that Vietnam backs India’s “Look East” policy and wishes the country to continue its important contributions to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world at large. 

The PM expressed his hope that in their positions, the Indian leaders will help to further boost the two countries’ strategic partnership.

The Indian leaders spoke highly of Vietnam’s positive contributions to the development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Asian region, saying that they hope to step up collaboration with Vietnam in all fields. 

Earlier, PM Nguyen Tan Dung held meetings with leaders of India’s political parties, including the Indian National Congress (INC), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), during which he appreciated the parties’ positive contributions to promoting and developing the Vietnam-India ties in an intensive, practical and effective manner. 

He also confirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam always values its ties with all political parties in India, including the INC, CPI, and CPI-M.
