Personnel work in focus at 15th plenum of Party Central Committee

During the 13th plenum, held in October, 2020, and 14th plenum, held in December, 2020, the Party Central Committee made decisions regarding several important personnel matters. This includes voting on the nomination of candidates for official and alternative members of the 13th Party Central Committee, members of the 13th Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, and members of the 13th Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat.

Following the 14th plenum, based on the recommendations of the 12th Party Central Committee and members of the 12th Politburo and Secretariat, the sub-committee for personnel matters and the Politburo gave thorough consideration. This preceded reaching a consensus to nominate candidates for key leading positions in the 13th tenure, including both Politburo members, thereby meeting conditions, age requirements, and identifying those in special cases.

In addition to being based on opinions expressed during the 14th plenum, the sub-committee for personnel matters and the Politburo studied, considered, and suggested the additional nomination of a number of debut candidates for official members of the Party Central Committee. This is in addition to some special cases of 12th Party Central Committee members for re-election during the 13th tenure, along with special cases of first-time candidates for official members of the Party Central Committee.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong therefore urged Party Central Committee members to carefully study proposals regarding the Politburo and related documents and contribute their ideas to finalising the report of the 12th Party Central Committee on personnel work for the 13th Party Central Committee, whilst also considering and proposing candidates for the four top key positions ahead in the 13th tenure.

The Party leader went on to emphasise that the 15th plenum is of special significance as it will both discuss and make decisions on remaining preparatory work in order to achieve the successful organisation of the 13th National Party Congress.
 
During this plenum, the Politburo is scheduled to submit draft lists of the Presidium, the Secretarial Delegation, and the Commission for Verifying the Eligibility of  Delegates of the 13th National Party Congress. The Party Central Committee will also offer opinions and approve various lists, which will then be submitted to the 13th congress for consideration and approval.

Furthermore, the conference is set to approve a report of the 12th Party Central Committee on personnel work relating to the Party Central Committee in the 13th tenure, along with another on documents which will be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress.

The plenum is scheduled to run until January 18.
