People-to-people exchanges continue to strengthen Vietnam-France relations
VOV.VN - People-to-people exchanges continue to boost relations between Vietnam and France, speakers said at a gathering in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7 marking France's National Day, commonly known as Bastille Day (July 14).
The event was jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF), showing the friendship between the people of Ho Chi Minh City and France.
At the event, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, President of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, said Vietnam-France relations have continued to grow steadily through decades of historical changes, in line with the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
She noted that cooperation between localities has become a distinctive feature of Vietnam-France relations since the early 1990s. To date, localities in both nations have carried out hundreds of joint projects in urban planning, environmental protection, smart cities, healthcare, education, culture, human resources development, digital transformation and sustainable development.
Ho Chi Minh City has maintained effective cooperation with the Brest Metropolitan Area and the city of Lyon in urban planning as well as heritage conservation and promotion, particularly in urban lighting. Cooperation with French partners in education and training has also yielded positive results.
According to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, people-to-people diplomacy in Ho Chi Minh City has attracted strong public interest through cultural, artistic and educational exchange activities. She expressed the hope that the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City will continue working closely with the association to organize and broaden meaningful people-to-people exchange activities, thus contributing to stronger bilateral ties between Vietnam and France.
