New envoy assumes post in Bishkek to deepen Vietnam-Kyrgyzstan ties
VOV.VN - Newly appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nguyen Thanh Le presented a copy of his credentials to Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Meder Abakirov in Bishkek on August 17, officially assuming his duties as non-resident ambassador based in Kazakhstan.
During their working session, both sides praised the positive momentum in traditional Vietnam-Kyrgyzstan relations, particularly following the official visit to Vietnam by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev in March 2025.
They agreed to step up delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, political consultations, and the effective implementation of reached agreements.
On economic cooperation, both officials highlighted substantial untapped potential, particularly in trade, investment, transportation, agriculture, and tourism. They emphasized leveraging the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to enhance business connectivity and facilitate mutual market access.
Tourism was identified as a highly promising sector. Kyrgyzstan expressed interest in attracting more Vietnamese visitors to Lake Issyk-Kul, its mountainous regions, and winter resorts, while encouraging Kyrgyz tourists to visit Vietnam’s coastal destinations. Both sides concurred to explore options for improving air connectivity and facilitating people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Le pledged to make every effort to boost bilateral ties in a practical and effective manner across political-diplomatic, economic-trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam keen to reinforce traditional friendship with Kyrgyzstan
