NA Standing Committee discusses key draft laws at 43rd session
VOV.VN - The 43rd session of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened on March 10 to review key draft laws during its meetings on March 10, 11, and 14, under the chairmanship of NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Man highlighted the session’s importance, taking place amid significant structural changes following the 9th extraordinary session. He noted that the Council for Ethnic Affairs and multiple parliamentary committees had swiftly stabilised their operations.
During this session, the NA Standing Committee will review and provide feedback on three draft laws before they are potentially submitted for discussion at the full-time legislators' conference (if necessary) and the upcoming 9th NA session for approval. These include the revised Law on Special Consumption Tax, the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, and the Law on Management and Investment of State Capital in Enterprises.
Chairman Man stressed that these legal amendments are critical to fostering economic growth, supporting the government’s target of 8% or higher GDP growth this year, and ensuring the successful implementation of the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan.
The committee will also consider five bills set for initial discussion at the 9th session, including amendments to the Law on Product and Goods Quality, the revised Railway Law, the Law on Personal Data Protection, the Law on the State of Emergency, and the Law on Participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations.
Additionally, members will discuss a proposal to reduce land rental fees for 2024 and a draft government decree on its implementation. They will also review a draft resolution outlining standards for clean and strong Party organisations under the Law on Emulation and Commendation.
Looking ahead, Chairman Man underscored the mounting workload facing parliamentary bodies, particularly with new responsibilities related to reviewing and amending the 2013 Constitution and associated laws.
The legislative agenda is extensive, with 11 laws slated for approval and 16 others up for discussion in the 2025 law-making programme. This does not include additional amendments required under the Politburo and Secretariat’s Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW and other legislative proposals from the Government.
Against this backdrop, Chairman Man urged all relevant bodies to closely follow the directives of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the steering committee overseeing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, which aims to streamline the political system for greater efficiency. He called for proactive updates, immediate implementation of new tasks, and thorough preparation for upcoming legislative discussions.
