NA adopts appointment of four Supreme People's Court judges, cabinet members

VOV.VN - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee reported the results of group discussions on July 28, with the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court explaining the opinions of legislators before the NA grants approval to the personnel appointment by secret ballot.

Those approved for appointment include Nguyen Van Dung, deputy chief judge of the People's Court of Da Nang city, Ngo Tien Hung, chief of Office of the Supreme People's Court, Nguyen Bien Thuy, chief judge of the People's Court of Ben Tre province, and Dao Thi Minh Thuy, deputy chief judge of the High People's Court in Hanoi.

Lawmakers also voted to grant approval to a resolution regarding the appointment of judges of the Supreme People's Court, with 472 out of 476 NA deputies ultimately voting in favour, thereby accounting for 94.59% of the total.

Moving forward, the Resolution is set to take effect from October 1, with the State President appointing these members as judges of the Supreme People's Court Pursuant in line with the Resolution.

The same day also saw legislators adopt a resolution on the organisational structure and number of members of the Government, under which the Government will have 27 members during the 2021 to 2026 tenure.

According to details stated as part of the resolution, the 15th-tenure Government will have one Prime Minister, four Deputy Prime Ministers, 18 Ministers, four heads of ministerial-level agencies, the Government Inspector General, and the Minister-Chairman of the Government Office.

Furthermore, the morning of July 28 saw Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh present a proposal on the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and heads of ministerial-level agencies. The NA will now vote on the proposal and a resolution relating to the appointment of Deputy PM, Ministers, and heads of ministerial-level agencies.

Moreover, a number of important resolutions are also expected to be approved during the final working day, including a resolution on the amendments of State budget expenditure estimate, and approval of the 2019 State budget balance. This is in addition to a resolution on the national financial plan and plan on borrowing and payment of public debt in the 2021 to 2025 period. Along with resolutions on investment policy for the National Target Programme on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2021 to 2025 period and the National Target Programme on new-style rural area building for the 2021 to 2025 period.

The 15th NA’s first plenary session is scheduled to conclude on July 28, with NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue giving a speech to close the event.
