He said he is greatly impressed with the socio-economic achievements Vietnam has recorded during its “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process.
Deputy PM Hue, in turn, hailed Myanmar’s socio-economic accomplishments over the years and affirmed Vietnam’s support for the country’s peace building efforts.
He noted with satisfaction the expanded comprehensive cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar, especially after the visit to Myanmar by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in August 2017, and the visit to Vietnam by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi in April 2018.
Bilateral trade between the two nations has posted an annual growth of 15-18% and is set to touch US$2 billion in the time ahead. Vietnam is the seventh biggest foreign investor in Myanmar with a total investment of US$2 billion, he said.
Hue also highlighted the two nations’ closer coordination in politics, defence, and security at bilateral and multilateral forums.
