Most polling stations closed at 7pm Sunday on schedule.

The 13th National Assembly and People’s Council elections at all levels for the 2011-2016 term ended successfully. The number of voters casting their ballots hit a record high in most provinces and cities. Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh and Lang Son were in the lead (99.99 percent), followed by Lao Cai (99.98 percent), Hau Giang (99.94 percent), Phu Yen (99.92 percent), Khanh Hoa (99.85 percent), Cao Bang (99.84 percent), Ninh Thuan (99.79 percent), Binh Dinh (99.77 percent), Can Tho (99.76 percent), Phu Tho (99.72 percent), Lam Dong (99.71 percent), Quang Tri (99.67 percent), Kien Giang (99.65 percent), Da Nang (99.61 percent), Dak Lak (99.58 percent), Binh Phuoc (99.50 percent), An Giang (99.49 percent), Bac Lieu (99.47 percent), Quang Ngai (9.46 percent), Dak Nong (99.40 percent) and Quang Nam (99.31 percent).

Only five provinces continued counting the votes. By 18pm Quang Binh claimed 99.4 percent, Hai Phong 98.55 percent, Tay Ninh 97.56 percent, Hung Yen 97.44 percent and Hai Duong 99.31 percent.

Most polling stations finished their work according to schedule. However some polling stations in Vinh Phuc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Quang Binh, Hung Yen and Hai Phong closed at 10pm.

The Elections Council reported that social security and order were well maintained during the elections on May 22.

This was the ever largest event with more than 63 million voters casting their ballots at 90, 438 polling stations to elect 500 NA deputies and 301,954 People’s Council members at all levels.

The Election Council said it will announce the result of the elections as soon as possible.
