The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) should quickly finish drafting a decree draft on its function, duties, rights and organisation structure to submit to the Government for approval, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a working session with MoIC leaders in Hanoi on August 21.

The MoIC must ensure its State management function in the four fields of post, telecommunications, information technology and press and publication.

PM Dung praised the MoIC leaders’ efforts in ensuring activities run smoothly and drafting the decree on its function, duties and organisation structure. The MoIC must create a legal framework for mobilising all domestic and foreign forces to map out development as well as build development strategies in five to ten years.

Mr Dung also urged the ministry to strengthen inspection activities to detect and adjust improper performance.

The PM agreed with the ministry about changing the names of some departments such as the Department of Information Technology and the Quality Control Department of Information Technology and Communications and the establishment of the Management Department of Broadcasting and Electronic Information and the Department of External Information.
