VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations on July 17 held a gathering to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack, the event that marked the beginning of Cuba's national liberation revolution, while reaffirming the special friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

In her speech, Truong Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, said the Moncada attack continues to embody the values of courage, resilience, solidarity and the right of every nation to self-determination. She reaffirmed the association's commitment to serving as a bridge by expanding cultural, educational, youth and people-to-people exchange activities, while offering more opportunities for younger generations in both nations to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship.

Mauricio Alejandro Martínez Duque, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, thanked the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations for organizing the commemorative gathering and highlighted the enduring significance of the Moncada Barracks attack, which marked the beginning of Cuba's revolutionary struggle that led to the country's independence.
