Government chief arrives in Hiroshima for G7 Summit and working sessions in Japan

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his high-ranking delegation arrived at Hiroshima airport at 13:55 (local time) on May 19, starting a business trip to attend to the expanded summit of the Group of Seven (G7) and a working visit to Japan from May 19 to 21 at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

Those welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage at the airport included Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Yamada Kenji, Hiroshima Prefecture Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka alongside staff of the Embassy, Consulate General of Vietnam in Japan.

Under the agenda of the G7 Summit, PM Pham Minh Chinh will attend 3 discussion sessions on the topics regarding cooperation in handling multiple crises, joint efforts for a sustainable planet, towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world.

He is set to participate in activities on the G7 global investment and infrastructure partnership initiative, and have bilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations within the framework of the G7 Summit.

At the discussion sessions, and within multilateral and bilateral activities, the Vietnamse Government chief will contribute to the international community in association with Vietnam's interests on many issues, especially those related to security - development, sustainable development, health cooperation, climate change response, the environment, and energy.

Through that, PM Chinh will convey the message of Vietnam's dynamic development, innovation, extensive and effective international integration, proactive and responsible contributions to the common affairs of the international community, while protecting and promoting the legitimate interests of the country.           

Also during the visit, PM Chinh will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio to discuss bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern. He is set to attend a seminar with leaders of large Japanese enterprises, hold meetings with representatives from economic organizations, corporations, large enterprises of Japan, Vietnamese community representatives, and intellectuals in Japan.

The Vietnamese Cabinet leader's working visit to Japan is of great significance in the context of the two countries celebrating 50 years of their diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023).

This shows both sides’ recognition of great importance to bilateral relations and affirms Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching importance to relations with Japan, wishing to further develop the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, and bolstering cooperation in the fields of two sides’ potential and strength.

PM Pham Minh Chinh's business trip with specific and practical activities and contents is aimed at drastically carrying out the 13th National Party Congress’ foreign policy on Vietnam’s independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of external relations.
