However, two of the 15 evacuees have not decided whether or not to leave, said the representative.

Tran Viet Tu, a counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, said he had handed over the list of evacuees registering for their departure on August 8 to the IOM.

Mr Tu said the itinerary remains unchanged: the evacuees will take buses to Syria and then fly back to Thailand and later to Vietnam.

After the second evacuation, there are still around 50-55 Vietnamese nationals residing in Lebanon. Among them, some are not ready to leave because they are waiting to get wages from their employers and others still want to continue working there.

According to Mr Tu, in case of war escalation, the remaining workers can get direct contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, which will then send the list to the IOM for emergency evacuations.

So far, sixty Vietnamese workers have returned home from Lebanon.
