Economic restructuring plan under scrutiny at NA second session

VOV.VN - Lawmakers participated in an online debate regarding a draft plan on restructuring the economy for the 2021 to 2025 period on October 30, the final working day of the second session of the 15th legislature.

Upon presenting the draft plan one day earlier, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung stated that the scheme aims to create an array of breakthrough changes in terms of the growth model in the direction of raising the national economy’s productivity. This is along with boosting aspects such as quality, competitiveness, resource use efficiency, self-reliance, and adaptability.

He noted that the overall goal of the project is to create an economy based on science-technology and innovation, featuring both rapid and sustainable growth in harmony with culture, society, the environment, and national defence-security.

The draft scheme therefore listed six groups of targets and specific indicators, with the addition of indicators relating to developing types of markets, restructuring economic space, and developing the digital economy and innovation.

NA deputies have come up with a draft national land use plan for the 2021 to 2030 period with a vision to 2050, along with a draft five-year land use plan for the 2021 to 2025 period.

The land use plans are therefore designed with the goal of allocating land to sectors and localities in accordance with socio-economic development needs, while simultaneously ensuring national defence-security, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.

The land allocation must also meet demand for infrastructure development, industrialisation, and urbanisation, while protecting ecologies and maintaining 3.5 million hectares of rice fields and a stable forest coverage rate of 42% to 43%, they said.
