Vietnam has new Minister of Transport

VOV.VN - Lawmakers in their ongoing year-end session in Hanoi on October 21 voted in favour a Prime Minister proposal to appoint Nguyen Van Thang, secretary of the Party Committee of Dien Bien province, as Minister of Transport.

In the morning of the same day, the lawmakers also approved a resolution dismissing Transport Minister Nguyen Van The from the post on his request.

The new Minister of Transport, a 49-year-old PhD in finance, had held key posts at VietinBank for 18 years before being appointed deputy head and head of the Quang Ninh provincial administration.

The official who hails from Hanoi was elected secretary of the Party Committee of Dien Bien province for the 2020-2025 tenure.

He was elected a full-ledged member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee for the 2021-2026 tenure.
