Vietnam has new environment minister
VOV.VN - Vietnamese lawmakers on May 22 approved a Government request on the appointment of Dang Quoc Khanh, secretary of the Party Committee of Ha Giang province, as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
A resolution to this effect was approved by the lawmakers, with 91.9% of votes in favour, at the ongoing session of the National Assembly in Hanoi.
Khanh will now succeed Tran Hong Ha to take the helm at the ministry after Ha was relieved of his post following a vote on the same day.
The new minister, 47, hails from Ha Tinh, a province in central Vietnam. The civil engineer got a PhD in urban and construction management. He is currently a member of the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly.
He had kept key positions in Ha Tinh such as director of the provincial Department of Construction, secretary of the Party Committee of the Nghi Xuan District, and deputy head of the Ha Tinh administration, before being appointed as secretary of the Party Committee of Ha Giang, a locality in northern Vietnam by the Political Bureau in July 2019.
