Vietnam attends Board of Trustees of ASEAN Foundation meeting
VOV.VN - Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang, head of the Vietnam Delegation to ASEAN, on June 9 attended the 48th meeting of the Board of Trustees of the ASEAN Foundation (AF BOT 48) at the headquarters of the ASEAN Secretariat on June 9.
The meeting reviewed major activities the ASEAN Foundation had carried out from November 2021 to April 2022, focusing on four main areas of education, arts and Culture, communications, and community building.
Among the activities were the ASEAN Data Science Explorers competition (ADSE), the ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting (AF MAM), the ASEAN Social Enterprise Development Program (ASEAN SEDP), and the ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship.
Representatives of participating countries thanked Vietnam for successfully completing the role of AF BOT Chair in 2021. They welcomed the ASEAN Foundation’s efforts in organizing activities in recent times amidst the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to raise public awareness about ASEAN, and connect with the ASEAN Secretariat and partners.
They discussed development orientations of the ASEAN Foundation in the second half of 2022, including recruiting the AF’s executive director for 2023-2026.
In the coming six months, the ASEAN Foundation will strengthen organizational capacity, popularize its image, and promote the search for budgetary sources to implement priority projects the fields of science - technology, creativity, innovation, young human resource development, student training and coaching.
