PM attends Lord Buddha’s birth commemoration in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a ritual marking Lord Buddha’s birth anniversary at Quan Su pagoda, the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, in Hanoi on May 22 morning.

He extended Party and State greetings to dignitaries of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, as well as Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in Vietnam and abroad.
The PM highlighted Buddhist values, saying over thousands of years of history, Buddhism has taken root and integrated into Vietnamese society, becoming an element of the noble traditional culture of the Vietnamese people.
For the nearly eight decades till today, Buddhism has made a positive impact and a great contribution to the past struggle for national independence and unification, and the present cause of national construction, defense and development led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, he stressed.
With the profound and sober philosophy of “Dharma - Nationality – Socialism,” Buddhist activities are always directed towards people, for people, for the happiness of people, for the prosperous development and longevity of the Vietnamese state, added the PM.

According to the Government leader, Vietnam boasts various religions and beliefs, and along with other religions and beliefs, Buddhism has oriented spiritual life and built moral standards, contributing to social stability and promoting national development.
During the country’s international integration, he said the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has promoted international exchange activities, making an important contribution to the development of Buddhism globally, while simultaneously enhancing Vietnam’s position in the international arena, and affirming the country’s policy of respecting and ensuring freedom of belief and religion.
He assured that the Party and State respect people’s freedom of belief and religion and ensure that all religious activities are practiced according to the law.
On this occasion, the PM asked Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers to uphold the spirit of unity, promote spiritually healthy religious activities, and actively take part in national socio-economic development movements, including poverty reduction and charities.
