NA bodies to be streamlined, organization restructuring to be completed in March

VOV.VN - The National Assembly (NA) will streamline its organizational structure to make its operations more efficient and effective, with the restructuring scheme to be completed by March 2025 at the latest, according to parliamentary leaders.

The National Assembly will hold an extraordinary session in February 2025 to discuss and decide on the apparatus of its agencies, those under the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Government agencies after restructuring, said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

He emphasized that the reorganization of National Assembly agencies must adhere to the principle of “one agency performing multiple tasks, and one task assigned to a single agency to take the lead and bear primary responsibility”.

He reminded that the restructuring of committees must align with the Constitution, comprehensively covering all functions and duties assigned to the National Assembly and the Standing Committee by the Constitution.

The allocation of responsibilities among committees after the reorganization should be scientific, reasonable, and balanced in workload, avoiding situations where one committee is overburdened while another has little work, stated the top legislator.

In addition, he said, the transfer of functions and duties among committees must correspond with the reassignment of personnel currently handling those tasks, to ensure the reoganized agencies can immediately resume their assigned duties without any disruption.

After the merger, it is projected that the number of National Assembly agencies and those under the National Assembly Standing Committee will be reduced by nearly 36%, while departments and units under the National Assembly Office will decrease by over 40%.

According to General Secretary of the National Assembly Le Quang Tung, the streamlining and reorganization of the National Assembly Committees and agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee will be completed by March 15, 2025.

Vietnam is speeding up the streamlining of the State apparatus under the 12th Party Central Committee’s Resolution 18 to ensure it is lean, effective, and efficient.
