Hanoi seeks stronger cooperation with Swiss localities

VOV.VN - Hanoi wants to promote cooperation with Swiss localities, especially in areas of Swiss strength such as finance, education and training, tourism and hotel services and pharmacy.

Hanoi’s Party Committee Secretary Vuong Dinh Hue made the proposal while receiving newly accredited Swiss ambassador to Vietnam Ivo Sieber in Hanoi on November 27.

Hue briefed his guest on Hanoi’s recent socio-economic development achievements, saying the capital city of Vietnam has brought the COVID-19 outbreak under control and is making every effort to restore its economy.

He expressed his wish that the Swiss ambassador will work hard to take relations between Vietnam and Switzerland to new heights.

Hanoi is willing to support and create favourable conditions for the Swiss ambassador to host exchanges and cooperation events in the city, Hue assured his guest.

For his part, ambassador Sieber congratulated Hanoi and Vietnam on their successful containment of COVID-19 amidst the complex development of the disease globally.

He expressed his hope that the European Free Trade Association, including Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, and Vietnam would soon reach an agreement and sign an FTA deal, so as to boost bilateral trade, as well as to create a foundation for private economic cooperation.
