Government proposes building Vietnamese cultural centres abroad
VOV.VN - The Government has proposed building Vietnamese cultural centres in several key overseas markets to popularize the country’s traditional culture abroad, at the ongoing seventh session of the National Assembly in Hanoi.
In a report delivered at the legislature, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, on behalf of the Government, proposed that investments be poured into building and operating Vietnamese cultural centres in some countries with long-term cultural relationships with Vietnam, such as the United States, Japan, Russia, the Republic of Korea, China, and Cambodia, among others.
This proposal is to implement the Party’s resolutions on culture and to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world, said Hung when presenting the Government’s national target programme on cultural development for the 2025 – 2035 period.
According to the minister, VND77 trillion is expected to be sourced from the State budget for the programme and about VND30.25 trillion will be contributed by localities.
During implementation, he said, the Government would balance the State budget and prioritize additional support to ensure the effectiveness of the programme.
In response, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Culture and Education Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh described the Government’s proposal as necessary, in accordance with Party guidelines and State policies on cultural development, meeting practical requirements.
The Culture and Education Committee basically agreed with the Government’s proposal on the total investment, and that the Government’s unanimous proposal to allocate large resources to implement the program has concretized the Party’s viewpoints on cultural development, said Vinh.
