Francophone delegates to attend APF Executive Committee meeting in Can Tho
VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will host a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophone (APF) Executive Committee and a parliamentary forum on Francophone cooperation in sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change adaptation from January 21 to 24.
The Song Hau Farm Ecological Zone in the city that excels in climate change adaptation and sustainable agricultural development has been selected as an exemplary eco-tourism site for delegates to learn about the model.
Over the past weeks, the Song Hau Farm Ecological Zone has meticulously prepared to welcome the APF delegation. The programme will feature a traditional rural market scene and stalls that showcase One Commune – One Product (OCOP) products, agricultural specialties, and hands-on experiences in making and enjoying traditional Southern Vietnamese cakes. Distinguished guests will also sample fresh beverages like orange juice, pineapple juice, fruit drinks, and soursop tea.
In addition, a video presentation will introduce the Ecological Zone, highlighting its vision for eco-tourism and sustainable agricultural development linked to climate change adaptation.
According to Nguyen Quang Diep, head of the Management Board of the Ecological Zone, this is the first time the Song Hau Farm Ecological Zone is hosting a large international delegation, with approximately 600 delegates expected to attend.
“This is a significant opportunity to promote the image, culture, and tourism of Vietnam to both domestic and international representatives,” he said.
To ensure a warm welcome, the Song Hau Farm Ecological Zone has closely coordinated with relevant agencies to make the best preparations to ensure the fact-finding tour will leave a positive and lasting impression on all participants.
“The site has been decorated and is now preparing to showcase traditional dishes and local specialties to the international delegation and representatives. Through these efforts, we want to promote the image, culture, and people of Vietnam, as well as the unique characteristics of the Song Hau Farm Ecological Zone, to the delegates and visitors,” said Tran Nhu Dien, a staff member of the site.
While staying in the city, delegates will also visit key local sites, including the Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Company and the New Green Farm Cooperative. To ensure a well-prepared welcome, these locations have been arranged to provide international delegates with an in-depth look at the production processes, sustainable agricultural models, and climate adaptation strategies implemented in the region.
