Da Nang’s success lies in ability to awaken human potential: President
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has hailed the great achievements gained by Da Nang over the past 25 years, affirming that the success of the central city lies in its ability to awaken human potential.
The President made the statement on December 28 while attending the seminar, themed “25 years of Da Nang: Achievements and Prospects”, that marks 25 years since Da Nang became a centrally-run city (January, 1997-2022).
In the past 25 years, the city’s gross domestic product (GDP) has increased by 27 times, its total budget revenue by 18 times, and its per capita income by 7 times.
It has ranked first in the country in terms of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) seven times, and topped the Public Administration Reform (PAR) index for five consecutive years and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Index for12 consecutive years.
Da Nang has the ability and needs to become an international-standard city, an international trade centre, and an attractive destination for investors and tourists. It must be a symbol and pride of Vietnam's rising to overcome difficulties and obstacles to obtain success, Phuc stressed.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested Da Nang focus on developing human capital as the key to the city’s success lies in its ability to awaken human potential, especially those who are fluent in foreign languages, good at technology, and have high skills.
It is necessary to build Da Nang into an urban area without poor people, as well as poor and near-poor households, he added.
Earlier on December 27, the State leader visited the March 29 Textile Joint Stock Company which flexibly adapts to the new situation, and maintains and develops production in the context of COVID-19.
