Vietnam’s 79th National Day celebrated in Cuba
VOV.VN - The Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba jointly held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam’s 79th National Day, the 55th anniversary of implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament, and the 55th anniversary of his passing, in Havana on September 2.
In his speech, ICAP president Fernando González Llort highlighted the historical significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Cuban hero affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament serves as the lodestar and the practical foundation for the Communist Party of Vietnam and people to continue achieving numerous successes in their efforts towards sustainable development, aiming for a prosperous nation, a strong country, and a just, democratic and civilized society.
He expressed his belief that Vietnam will steadfastly advance on the path of building a modern, developed, and prosperous nation, just as President Ho Chi Minh always expected.
He once again emphasized the special friendship and solidarity between the Cuban and Vietnamese peoples, which has been diligently nurtured by the leaders and citizens of both countries through generations.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long affirmed that after 79 years, National Day on September 2 continues to leave a lasting mark and evoke pride in every Vietnamese person.
It remains a significant source of inspiration, instilling the enthusiasm of successive generations of Vietnamese as they build a progressively developing Vietnam that integrates deeply into the world, said the diplomat.
Before passing away, he said President Ho left behind a sacred Testament for the entire Party and people, embodying the highest ethical, cultural, and emotional values.
President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament, with its timeless and transcendent values, not only influences today’s younger generations in Vietnam but will also continue to inspire future generations of youth to study and follow the president’s moral examples, said Long.
He thanked the Party, Government, and people of Cuba for their strong support, solidarity and heartfelt assistance to Vietnam over the past decades, and affirmed that the fraternal relationship between Vietnam and Cuba will live long forever.
