Vietnamese Prime Minister to attend G20 summit 2020
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend the 15th meeting of Group of Twenty (G20) to be virtually hosted by Saudi Arabia on November 21-22.
Vietnam was first invited to attend the G20 Summit 2010 in its capacity as ASEAN Chair. It was then invited to take part in the G20 Summit 2017 when it assumed the APEC presidency.
Two years later, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe invited his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc to attend the G20 summit 2019, held in Osaka, as a special guest. Phuc participated in meetings within the framework of the summit and gave opinions on the draft joint statement of the conference.
This year, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia has invited PM Phuc to attend the event.
The Saudi G20 Presidency began on December 1, 2019 and ends on November 30, 2020. The Leaders’ Summit will be held on 21-22 November 2020 in Riyadh. In the run-up to the Summit, the Presidency will host more than 100 meetings and conferences, including ministerial meetings, as well as meetings of officials and representatives from civil society.
The G20 is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 19 leading economies plus the European Union.
