Vietnam, Venezuela celebrate 31 years of diplomacy

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela held a ceremony on Dec. 15 to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Venezuela.

Addressing the function, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen reviewed major achievements Vietnam has recorded after more than three decades of implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

Highlighting the fine development of the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela, the ambassador noted that both countries have signed more than 50 agreements in many fields during the past 15 years and deployed 16 cooperation projects in such fields as oil and gas, agriculture and seafood.

The government and people of Vietnam attach importance to strengthening the relations with Venezuela, and support the South American nation’s struggle for national independence, sovereignty and development, thus bringing peace and prosperity for the people, Duyen stressed.

The ambassador affirmed that the establishment of the Venezuela - Vietnam Friendship Association (CAVV) and the Venezuela - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (CAVENVIET) in 2020 will contribute to promoting both countries’ strengths and potential, especially in economics and trade.

Vietnam’s upcoming participation in the Venezuela International Book Fair 2021 (FILVEN 2021) at the invitation of President Nicolas Maduro shows that the two countries share many common values ​​of peace, progress, humanity, and development and prosperity, he said.

On this occasion, Ambassador Duyen announced the opening of Espacio Vietnam (Vietnamese Space) at the central square in Caracas. The venue is to introduce products, culture and cuisine of Vietnam, creating opportunities for local residents and visitors to gain deeper and closer insights into the country’s culture and people.
