Vietnam responds to China’s enforcement of revised maritime traffic safety law

VOV.VN - Vietnam has produced its reaction after China promulgated its revised maritime traffic law, starting from September 1.

“Countries need to strictly comply with the international treaties to which they are a party, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) - the legal framework for all activities at sea and ocean - when promulgating domestic legal documents related to the sea,” said Le Thi Thu Hang, a spokesperson for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to reporters’ question.

Vietnam resolutely and persistently takes measures in accordance with international law to enforce and protect its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, as well as sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over its maritime zones determined in line with the provisions of UNCLOS, she stressed.
