Vietnam, Poland hold political consultation

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung and Polish Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz on November 19 virtually co-chaired a political consultation between the two ministries.

Both sides expressed pleasure at the good development of the traditional friendship and relationship in many fields between the two countries over the past 70 years since they established their diplomatic ties.

Deputy Minister To Anh Dung highly appreciated that Poland considers Vietnam as one of its five priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region to expand bilateral relations. He affirmed Vietnam always attaches great importance to and wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Poland, a traditional partner of Vietnam in Europe.

The two diplomats spoke highly of the close and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland over the past time, making an important contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.

They exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the East Sea issue, and agreed to work closely at international and regional forums, especially at the United Nations, in order to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

On this occasion, Undersecretary of State Marcin Przydacz congratulated Vietnam on the outstanding completion of the ASEAN Chair in 2020.

The two sides maintained that Poland is currently Vietnam’s largest trade partner in Central Eastern Europe. They agreed to further promote bilateral economic-trade and investment cooperation following the recent enforcement of European Union – Vietnam free trade agreement (EVFTA).

Deputy Minister Dung thanked Poland for its support to the signing of the EVFTA and proposed Poland soon complete the ratification of the European Union Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in order to realize the benefits from the trade deal.

The two diplomats agreed to continue increasing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security-defense, education-training, health, justice, agriculture, the environment, culture and tourism.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic evolving in a complex manner, the two sides agreed to continue creating favourable conditions for citizens of each country to be repatriated safely. Deputy Minister To Anh Dung thanked Poland for licensing a flight to bring home Vietnamese citizens in July.

Dung also thanked the Polish Government for assisting the Vietnamese community in Poland to live and integrate into the local community, serving as a bridge between the two nations.
