Vietnam, Mexican Labour Party expand exchanges on party building, cadre training

The proposal was put forward by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan, Politburo member and president of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, during a meeting with a high-level delegation of the Mexican Labour Party led by Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, general secretary of the party, in Hanoi on August 19.

Huan proposed establishing a mechanism for political-theory dialogue between the two parties, alongside programmes to train and develop younger cadres and share experience in party building.

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics provides training in political theory, Party building, ideological work, organisation and mass mobilisation. It also maintains training and capacity-building partnerships with a number of political parties, contributing to the Communist Party of Vietnam’s external relations.

Building on this experience, Huan proposed expanding exchanges on party building, organising training programmes and facilitating exchanges among cadres, with a particular focus on young officials with development potential.

General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, for his part, expressed interest in Vietnam’s experience in cadre development, particularly its approach to preserving and building on revolutionary thought and the theoretical foundations of the Đổi mới (Renewal) process.

He praised Vietnam’s achievements over nearly four decades of Đổi mới and said Vietnam offered a valuable reference in combining a socialist-oriented market economy with development goals and improvements in people’s living standards.

He said Vietnam’s experience could provide useful lessons for left-wing political movements, including how political leadership can guide development while using market mechanisms to serve broader social and economic objectives.

To deepen dialogue between the two parties, the Mexican official proposed organising bilateral political-theory seminars alternately in Vietnam and Mexico, and expressed readiness to host Vietnamese lecturers for academic exchanges.

The Mexican Labour Party also plans to continue republishing works by President Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese Party and State leaders as reference materials for a seminar of left-wing political parties scheduled to be held in Mexico in October.

Both sides expressed confidence that such initiatives would contribute to stronger relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Mexican Labour Party, thereby further advancing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Mexico.
