Vietnam attaches importance to relations with Jordan, says Party leader
VOV.VN - Vietnam wishes to strengthen relations with Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, said Party leader To Lam during his meeting with King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan in Hanoi on November 12.
He highlighted the historic significance of the King’s visit, noting its timing as especially important with Jordan approaching the 80th anniversary of its National Day in 2026, and Vietnam preparing for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party, setting the stage for a new era of development.
He praised the substantive outcomes of the earlier talks between President Luong Cuong and King Abdullah II, affirming that Vietnam and Jordan have significant potential to further enhance cooperation for the benefit of both peoples, as well as for peace, stability, and development in ASEAN and the Middle East.
The top leader also welcomed the large business delegation accompanying the King, which contributes to the practical effectiveness of the visit.
King Abdullah II expressed his appreciation for the visit, shared sympathy for the recent natural disaster losses in Vietnam, and reaffirmed Jordan’s desire to promote comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, particularly between the private sectors of both countries.
He also stressed the need to consolidate political trust, expand defence and security cooperation, exchange scientific and technological expertise, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding.
On this occasion, King Abdullah II invited Vietnam to participate in an upcoming international conference on food security hosted by Jordan.
Both leaders agreed that, given the complex developments in the world and regional contexts, Vietnam and Jordan should promote cooperation to address emerging challenges. Key areas include political-diplomatic ties, defence and security, economic, trade, and investment cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, and tourism.
They also vowed to continue mutual support at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, ASEAN, and regional Middle Eastern organisations.
King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein arrived in Hanoi on November 12, beginning an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.
The King’s visit opens new opportunities for Vietnam and Jordan to consolidate a comprehensive and long-term partnership, aiming for a sustainable and practical cooperation in the future.
