Vietnam attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Egypt

VOV.VN - Vietnam always values the development of traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Egypt, said President Luong Cuong during his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in the New Administrative Capital on August 5.

President Cuong, who was in Cairo on a State visit, spoke highly of Egypt’s rapid development, especially in building new urban areas and administrative centers, reflecting the country’s far-sighted vision and ambition to rise and break through.

He expressed his desire to elevate bilateral relations to a new level that is stronger, more substantive, and more effective. He proposed increasing high-level exchanges, and developing new legal frameworks to facilitate bilateral cooperation across all sectors.

Prime Minister Madbouly welcomed President Cuong’s visit which he said marked an important milestone, opening a new chapter in the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries. He congratulated Vietnam on its remarkable development achievements, and expressed his belief that Vietnam would realise its goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.

The Egyptian Prime Minister welcomed the two countries’ decision to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, highlighting the historic and special nature of the ties, which have always received strong attention from President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, himself, and Egypt’s senior leadership.

Highlighting the potential for economic cooperation, President Cuong suggested promoting bilateral collaboration in key areas such as logistics, energy infrastructure, industrial production, textiles, and renewable energy, as well as in emerging fields like green transition, digital transformation, and halal products.

He also proposed that both sides enhance coordination, consultation, and mutual support at regional and international forums, and share experience in peacekeeping and mediation efforts to contribute to regional and global peace and stability.

President Cuong also requested that the Egyptian Prime Minister pay attention and create favoUrable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Egypt to live and work stably, thereby contributing to Egypt’s development and the bilateral relationship.

Prime Minister Madbouly fully agreed with the President’s proposals and noted that Egypt is also undergoing reform, restructuring the private sector, attracting foreign investment, advancing its technological and industrial revolutions, embracing the green transition, and minimiSing the impacts of climate change.

He proposed that both countries work actively toward launching negotiations on a Vietnam–Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on the basis of equality, balance, and mutual benefit, and strive to increase bilateral trade as agreed by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and President Luong Cuong during their earlier talks.

The Prime Minister also proposed establishing a Vietnam–Arab Business Council to serve as a bridge connecting Vietnam with markets in the Middle East, Africa, and the Arab world. He welcomed Vietnamese investors and affirmed that Egypt would facilitate Vietnamese businesses operating in the country and warmly welcome Vietnamese students to study at Al-Azhar University and other Egyptian institutions.

Prime Minister Madbouly appreciated Vietnam’s active role at the United Nations and announced that Egypt would send a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the signing of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, expected to take place in Hanoi in October 2025.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s invitation to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to soon visit Vietnam, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
