Vice President receives Cambodian front delegation

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted a reception for a delegation of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland in Hanoi on May 30.

Xuan congratulated Cambodia on its successful chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in 2022, and its successful organisation of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) in May.

The Vice President expressed her hope that the neighbouring country will successfully organise its general election in July and the 12th ASEAN Para Games in June, thus contributing to raising its role and position in the region and the world, and building the ASEAN Community of peace, stability, solidarity and prosperity.

The host noted with pleasure the fruitful development of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship, as reflected through regular exchanges of visits and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and the efficiency in collaboration in economy, trade, investment, education-training, culture and tourism.

Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives the highest priority to enhancing the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation with Cambodia, Xuan affirmed.

She also commended the close ties between front organisations of the two countries, and suggested them maintain the coordination, effectively materialise their signed agreements, and carry forward their role in the relations between the two Parties, States and peoples, as well as in cooperation between localities, especially border ones.

The two front organisations should step up the communications work to raise public awareness of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship, she continued.

Xuan called on the Cambodian side to continue their support to people of Vietnamese origin in the country, and help them remove difficulties, including those relating to citizenship procedures, thus helping them stabilise their lives, integrate into the host society, and serve as a friendship bridge between the two countries.

She also suggested Cambodia facilitate the operation of Vietnamese investors and businesses in the country.

Nhem Valy, Permanent Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the National Council of the Solidarity for the Development of Cambodian Motherland, who led the delegation, briefed his host on Cambodia’s socio-economic situation.

He used the occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, State and people, particularly volunteer soldiers, for their support to Cambodian people’s past struggle against the genocidal regime and their present cause of national construction and development.
