US President Joe Biden congratulates newly elected Vietnamese President
VOV.VN - US President Joe Biden has extended congratulations to General To Lam on his recent election as President of Vietnam at the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
In his letter of congratulation, Biden reaffirmed the US’ commitment to supporting a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Vietnam.
He was pleased to know that the two countries’ relationship has achieved significant progress after nearly 29 years of establishing diplomatic relations. He emphasized that the new partnership framework established during his visit to Vietnam in September 2023 will be a driving force for prosperity and security in the region.
Vietnam and the US lifted their relations to a level of comprehensive strategic partnership last September.
Biden expressed his belief that Vietnam-US relations will develop further in the coming years as partners and friends. He said he is looking forward to working with President Lam to make that future a reality and to build a world of peace, prosperity and safety for all.
Meanwhile, Dutch King Willem-Alexander also sent congratulations and wishes of success to General To Lam after he was elected as President of Vietnam.
In another congratulatory message, the Dutch King said he believes that the constructive and extensive bilateral relationship between the two countries will continue to develop for the benefit and prosperity of the two peoples.
On this occasion, German President Frank Walter-Steinmeier, Bulgaria President Rumen Radev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also sent letters of congratulation to the newly elected Vietnamese President.
