Top legislator pushes for stronger Vietnam – Sierra Leone cooperation
VOV.VN - The legislative bodies of Vietnam and Sierra Leone should increase reciprocal visits and strengthen the sharing of experience to further boost bilateral cooperation, suggested National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue of Vietnam.
Hue was speaking while receiving visiting Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio on March 16.
He said the two bodies should also help monitor and promote the effective implementation of agreements signed by the two countries.
According to the Vietnamese legislator, the two sides should support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums of which both bodies are members, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world.
Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to promote friendly relations and positive cooperation with friends in Africa, including Sierra Leone, especially in such fields as agriculture and farm produce processing, said Hue.
For his part, President Julius Maada Bio expressed his impression of Vietnam’s development achievements and said his visit is to expand and bring the two countries’ relations to new heights.
He briefed his host on the results of his previous talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders that focused on measures to bolster cooperation in the fields commensurate with the potential and strength of both sides.
He said during his visit he will make fact-finding trips to localities to learn about how Vietnam develops agriculture, food production and rural areas, reduces poverty, and applies advanced technology in food and seafood processing.
President Julius Maada Bio arrived in Hanoi on March 14 for a week-long visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
