Top Chinese leader Xi Jinping pays respects to Vietnamese Party chief
VOV.VN - Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President, on July 20 paid his last respects to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.
The Vietnamese Party leader passed away in Hanoi on July at the age of 80.
President Xi Jinping affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a steadfast Marxist and a great leader of the Party and people of Vietnam, who devoted his whole life to the Vietnamese revolution.
The Vietnamese leader led the Party, State and people of Vietnam to record great achievements in the cause of building socialism, receiving the support and love of the entire Party, army and people.
China always remembers the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to promoting the traditional friendship of China and Vietnam as both comrades and brothers, said Xi.
Xi also affirmed that the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party steadfastly supports the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to unite and lead the Vietnamese people firmly on their path of development.
The Party, State and people of China consistently support and believe that Vietnam’s cause of Renewal and building socialism will gain even greater achievements.
China is ready to join Vietnam in efforts to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam-China community of shared future with strategic significance.
Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai thanked the Chinese leader for his good sentiments and affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam always consider developing relations with the Party, State and people of China a top priority and a strategic choice.
The same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning and many other senior Chinese leaders sent wreaths to commemorate the Vietnamese leader.
