State President pushes for stronger cooperation with South Africa
VOV.VN - State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 15 received outgoing South African Ambassador to Vietnam Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, saying the two countries still hold great potential for stronger cooperation in various areas.
Phuc highly appreciated the Ambassador’s active contributions to promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and South Africa during his working term in Vietnam.
He said the two countries have collaborated well at multilateral forums and increased cooperation in economy, trade and investment over the years, but noted there is still more room for stronger cooperation in other fields.
The State President suggested that the two countries increase all-level delegation exchanges, and continue the Vietnam - South Africa intergovernmental meeting to remove obstacles to bilateral cooperation and at the same time enhance trade promotion.
Ambassador Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro thanked the Government and people of Vietnam for support during his working term, and said trade cooperation is a bright spot in bilateral relations.
South Africa is well aware of the important role and position of Vietnam in the international arena, therefore, it attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation at multilateral forums and international organizations, said the ambassador.
