State President attends late Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s funeral

VOV.VN - A state-funeral was held in Tokyo on September 27 for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who was shot dead nearly three months ago.

Approximately 700 foreign guests, including heads of state and government, from 218 countries and territories and international organizations were present the event.

A high-level Vietnamese delegation led by State president Nguyen Xuan Phuc also attended the ceremony.

Shinzo Abe, 67, passed away on July 8 after being shot from behind while campaigning for a candidate of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the city of Nara, east of Osaka.

He was Japan's longest-serving Prime Minister. He served as the PM from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2012 to 2020.
