President To Lam receives foreign leaders to Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong’s funeral
VOV.VN - President To Lam on July 25 received Prime Minister Han Duck-soo of the Republic of Korea, President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Senate President Hun Sen, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval of India, and Minister of War Veterans and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga of Algeria who came to pay their respects to Vietnamese General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Meeting with the RoK PM, To Lam thanked RoK President Yoon Suk-yeol for sending a telegram of condolence and noted that Han’s attendance shows the RoK attaches importance to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
He emphasized that Trong’s passing is a great loss to the Party, State and people of Vietnam as well as his family. He said the Party chief has made valuable contributions to developing Vietnam-RoK relations, especially to upgrading bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022.
To Lam stated that Vietnam wants to work closely with the RoK to develop their comprehensive strategic partnership in an effective, substantive and extensive manner.
He suggested that Korean businesses expand their investment in Vietnam, and that both sides expand cooperation in fields of education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
Han for his part highly appreciated Vietnam’s rising role globally and affirmed that the RoK always considers Vietnam an important partner in its foreign policy and a key partner in implementing its regional policies such as the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the Korea - ASEAN Solidarity Initiative.
On this occasion, he conveyed President Yoon’s invitation to President To Lam to visit the RoK at an appropriate time.
At a reception for Hun Sen, To Lam noted that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in whatever leadership positions, always paid attention to building, consolidating and developing the good relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
He took note of the close bond, fruitful cooperation and mutual assistance between the two Parties and two countries as well as the relationship between the three Parties and three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, while affirming that Vietnam will do its best, together with the Cambodian People’s Party, State and people of Cambodia, to forever preserve and nurture the traditional friendship, good neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The president expected that the two countries would increase cooperation, especially in the fields of economics and trade, as well as cooperation in the Mekong Sub-region and the development triangle of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, and ASEAN as a whole.
Hun Sen for his part recalled his part meetings with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and thanked Vietnam for helping Cambodia escape the genocide in the past and build and develop the country at present. He emphasized that under the leadership of Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has recorded important achievements in socio-economic development and Party building work.
Cambodia will do its utmost to preserve and cultivate the increasingly developed relationship between the two Parties, two countries and two peoples.
*** Receiving National Security Advisor Ajit Doval of India, To Lam said both Vietnam and India have always shared trust and strong friendship, which is the foundation for continuing to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, including defense - security, economics - trade, culture - tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
Doval for his part said India always appreciates the valuable support and important contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the development of Vietnam - India relations.
He voiced India’s desire to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, especially in the context of the current complex fluctuations in the region and the world.
*** Receiving Minister of War Veterans and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga of Algeria, To Lam affirmed that Vietnam values friendly and cooperative relations with traditional friends in Africa, especially Algeria.
He asked the Minister to extend an invitation to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.
In response, Rebiga said that the Government and people of Algeria are extremely saddened by the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people, who wholeheartedly devoted himself to the Vietnamese Fatherland in many different positions.
He affirmed that the Government and people of Algeria value the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.
