PM Pham Minh Chinh concludes France visit

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage left Paris late Friday (November 5) for Hanoi, concluding a three-day official visit to France at the invitation of French Prime Minister Jean Castex.

During his stay, PM Pham Minh Chinh held talks with PM Jean Castex, and met with President Emmanuel Macron and many other French officials.

Both sides reached consensus on various issues and reaffirmed their determination to deepen the Vietnam-France strategic partnership.

They affirmed their solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of promoting fair and equal access to COVID-19 vaccines and medicines. They also expressed their desires to strengthen cooperation in addressing common challenges including climate change.

The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in culture and education noting science - technology and higher education are among priority areas in bilateral cooperation.

Vietnam welcomed French investments in logistics and port infrastructure, enabling trade facilitation between the two countries.

Vietnam and France agreed to work towards enhancing the Vietnam – EU and EU – ASEAN partnerships within the framework of the EU’s Indo-Pacific strategy and during France’s EU Presidency in the first half of 2022.

They reaffirmed their full respect for the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), as well as peaceful settlement of sea-related disputes. They underscored the importance of maintaining safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in all seas and oceans, especially in the East Sea, in according to international law.

While staying in Paris, PM Pham Minh Chinh received many leading businesses of France and Europe, attended the France-Vietnam Business Forum, and witnessed the signing of nearly 40 cooperation agreements and economic contracts in various fields worth tens of billions of euros.

He also met with representatives of Vietnamese associations in Europe, encouraging Vietnamese nationals to legally reside and work in their host countries and make a further contribution to the fatherland in their capacity.
