PM Chinh arrives in Indonesia for ASEAN Summit
VOV.VN - A high-level Vietnamese Government delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 23 for a Leaders’ Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The delegation was welcomed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by Akio Alfiano Tamala, Chief of Protocol under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang and permanent representative to ASEAN Nguyen Hai Bang were also on hand.
This is Prime Minister Chinh’s first overseas visit following his election as head of the Vietnamese Government at a recent National Assembly session.
His participation in the summit affirms Vietnam’s commitment to strengthen solidarity and mutual assistance with other ASEAN member states, contributing to enhancing the regional bloc’s central role and position in addressing emerging challenges, so as to create a peaceful and favourable environment for sustainable development of each country and the region as a whole.
He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the summit, and pay courtesy visits to Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, President of the ASEAN Year 2021.
He will also have bilateral meetings with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, and attend a meeting between the three Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
