National Assembly leader pushes for enhanced cooperation with Jordan
VOV.VN - The National Assembly of Vietnam is prepared to facilitate legal frameworks, support policies for bilateral cooperation, and coordinate oversight of the implementation of bilateral agreements, thereby fostering comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man made the statement during his meeting with visiting King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan in Hanoi on November 12.
He emphasised that despite the geographical distance, the two countries maintain a friendly and close relationship built on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
The senior legislator praised Jordan’s efforts to promote peace, stability, and development in the Middle East, as well as King Abdullah II’s leadership in advancing humanitarian values, social justice, and global food security.
He reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to promote cooperation with Jordan across multiple sectors on a mutually beneficial basis.
Acknowledging the significant losses suffered by the Vietnamese people due to recent natural disasters, King Abdullah II expressed admiration for the resilience, diligence, and creativity of the Vietnamese people, as well as for the country’s recent socio-economic achievements.
As both countries accelerating socio-economic development policies, the King expected that Jordan and Vietnam would strengthen cooperation across all areas, especially in the private sector.
The two leaders agreed on the need to strengthen political trust and enhance cooperation in defence and security through high-level delegation exchanges. In the economic sphere, they agreed to facilitate trade in each country’s key products and promote collaboration in high-tech agriculture, textiles, renewable energy, logistics, healthcare, and other sectors.
Chairman Man proposed expanding cooperation in culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges through student exchanges, scholarships, tourism, and cultural activities, to deepen mutual understanding and connections among the younger generations.
To support this goal, King Abdullah II suggested studying the possibility of establishing direct flights between the two countries.
The leaders also agreed that the legislative bodies of both countries should enhance parliamentary cooperation, considering it a key pillar of the overall Vietnam-Jordan bilateral relationship.
Through the King, Chairman Man conveyed greetings and reiterated an invitation to Jordan’s parliamentary leaders to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time to further strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation.
