National Assembly Chairman concludes Latin American trip
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue returned to Hanoi late Saturday, concluding his working trip to Cuba, Argentina and Uruguay at the invitations of top legislators of the three countries.
The trip was a great success as it helped increase political trust, opening up new opportunities to strengthen effective, substantive, mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and the three countries, Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), Southeast Asia and Latin America, and within multinational forums such as South-South cooperation.
During talks and meetings, leaders of the countries highly appreciated Vietnam’s increasing role and position in the region and the world. The Cuban side wished to continue to strengthen its special relationship with Vietnam, while Argentine leaders affirmed that Vietnam is a strategic partner for Argentina. The Uruguayan side said they consider Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region and a bridge to connect Uruguay with Southeast Asia.
The three countries all wished to coordinate with Vietnam in international and regional forums to address current global challenges such as maintaining peace and stability, respecting international law, resolving conflicts through negotiation, ensuring food security, energy security, health security, and responding to climate change.
The trip was also an opportunity for the top Vietnamese legislator to exchange and convey messages about Vietnam’s stance on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During the tour, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue signed cooperation documents with legislative leaders of the three countries, affirming their desires to strengthen cooperation through the parliamentary channel.
