NA leader welcomes Cuban Prime Minister Marrero

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on September 29 met with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marreto Cruz who is on an official friendly visit to Vietnam from September 28 - October 2.

Hue extended his deepest sympathy over human and material losses caused by the Matanzas fuel depot fire last August and the recent Ian typhoon.

He also expressed his belief that the Cuban leadership, together with the Communist Party of Cuba and people, would continue to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and effectively implement the resolution of the eighth Party congress, including successfully building a new Constitution.

The National Assembly and people of Vietnam always stand shoulder to shoulder with and support the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people, affirmed the NA leader.

He briefed the Cuban PM on Vietnam’s Doi Moi (Renewal) achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, as well as the National Assembly of Vietnam’s operations, contributing to the development of the Vietnam - Cuba relations.

The National Assembly of Vietnam will continue to work closely with the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba to exchange experiences in legislative and supervisory work, and at the same time coordinate closely with its Cuban counterpart at regional and international parliamentary forums, he assured his guest.

For his part, PM Marrero affirmed that Cuba highly appreciates the special traditional friendship between the two countries, which was founded by late President Ho Chi Minh and late President Fidel Castro and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

The Cuban Prime Minister thanked the National Assembly of Vietnam for the valuable support it has provided to the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba over the years. He also conveyed Cuban legislature leader Esteban Lazo’s invitation to visit Cuba to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marreto Cruz arrived in Hanoi on September 28 evening for a five-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
