NA Chairman Hue hosts World Bank executive
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received World Bank Regional Vice President for East Asia and Pacific Manuela V. Ferro in Hanoi on March 21.
Hue highly appreciated activities the World Bank has carried out in Vietnam, contributing to facilitating the country’s institutional reform and socio-economic development over the years.
He noted that the World Bank is a reliable partner of Vietnam, having comprehensive relations in most areas, from policy making consultation to infrastructure investment and human resource development.
Most recently, he said the World Bank representative in Vietnam attended a Vietnam Economic Forum in December 2021, giving advice on tax policy for economic recovery, sharing international experiences and making recommendations for Vietnam.
Chairman Hue suggested that the World Bank support Vietnam in further restructuring public finance and public debt in a more sustainable way while mobilizing additional capital for economic development.
This is a priority policy of Vietnam, he stressed.
He also suggested that the World Bank and other development partners continue to support the development of the legal system, especially in building an economic development institution suitable to the context of the industry 4.0 revolution and digital transformation evolving strongly in the world.
The top legislator expressed hope that the World Bank would support the National Assembly of Vietnam in hosting the annual economic forum by providing expertise and financial assistance to this event.
For her part, Ferro affirmed that Vietnam is a very important partner of the World Bank. She said challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic along with geopolitical fluctuations require countries to have a more stable and long-term vision, and the World Bank would provide up-to-date information for Vietnam to make socio-economic development decisions.
Ferro highly appreciated the National Assembly of Vietnam organizing the annual economic forum to mobilize stakeholders’ contributions to draft policies and bills to be submitted to the legislature for consideration and approval. She assured that the World Bank would provide experts to this forum,
Vice President Ferro also emphasized that the World Bank supports the National Assembly’s role in supervising public finance. As the financial institution is currently developing the Vietnam 2045 Report, Ferro hoped that the National Assembly and Chairman Hue personally would share useful information about the contents of the report.
