Leaders of Vietnam and China exchange lunar New Year greetings

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping on February 2 exchanged greetings on the occasion of the lunar New Year 2024 – the Year of the Dragon.

In their congratulatory messages, the two leaders express their joy at the positive development trend and important progress in the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries in all areas, since Trong’s historic visit to China in October 2022 that came hot on the heels of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China.

They especially appreciate the significance and fruitful results of Xi’s State visit to Vietnam in December 2023, where the two sides issued a joint statement on further deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

During Xi’s visit, the two sides signed 36 cooperation documents, showing both sides’ determination and outlining an important strategic orientation for the long-term development of relations between the two Parties and two countries in the new period.

Entering the Year of the Dragon, Trong hopes that both sides will thoroughly grasp and well implement the high-level agreements and common perceptions reached by their top leaders, in order to further promote Vietnam - China relations, for the development and benefits of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and beyond.

Meanwhile, Xi hopes that the two sides will strive to take bilateral relations to new heights, promote exchanges and cooperation across all channels, levels, and fields, giving fresh impetus to modernization of the two countries, and making greater contributions to the cause of peace and progress of mankind.

The two leaders wish the two Parties, States and peoples good health, happiness and good luck in the new year. They also hope that relations between Vietnam and China will develop more positively and prosperously.
