Laos Vice President Pany Yathotou visits Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on April 26 to welcome Vice President of Laos Pany Yathotou who is in Hanoi for a three-day official visit to Vietnam.

The two VPs held talks shortly after the ceremony.

Laos and Vietnam are the two close neighbours that have a long-standing traditional friendship and solidarity. Their relationship is considered an exemplary model of the strong and effective connection between the two nations in the struggle for independence, freedom and social progress.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bilateral relationship has kept developing comprehensively. In addition to defence and security cooperation, Vietnam and Laos have maintained economic-investment and trade cooperation, with two-way trade in the first two months of this year hitting US$243.2 million, up 21.9% compared to the same period of 2021.  

Vietnam currently has 417 investment projects in Laos with a total registered capital of US$4.7 billion.

The two countries have closely coordinated and supported each other at regional and international forums; especially within the framework of ASEAN, the United Nations and sub-regional mechanisms.

VP Pany Yathotou began an official visit to Vietnam from April 25 – 27 at the invitation of VP Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
